Land Acknowledgement

Healing relationships and therapeutic spaces rely on honesty and integrity. I primarily work in Chicago, Illinois and Vancouver, British Columbia. I respectfully acknowledge that I am a visitor on the lands upon which I do this work. Chicago is located on the unceded ancestral territories of the Anishinaabe, Ojibwe, Odawa, Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk, Peoria, Myaamia, Kickapoo, Sac and Fox peoples who were forced to relinquish their land via Cession 148. Vancouver is situated on the unceded traditional territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and səlilwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations (https://native-land.ca/).

I acknowledge the history and ongoing colonization of these lands, and my presence in both of these regions as a settler. As a descendant of Ukrainian refugees that had to flee their ancestral lands due to violence and colonization, I honor the pain of those who have suffered so deeply. I recognize my obligations to the land and the people in these places to learn and work in a good way.
